World Heart Day 2026

Overview:

World Heart Day is observed annually on September 29 to raise awareness of cardiovascular diseases and their associated risk factors, and to encourage individuals and communities to adopt behaviours that support prevention and heart health. In 2026, the campaign focuses on the importance of recognising the signs and symptoms of cardiovascular disease and not ignoring them, alongside taking simple daily steps to support heart health.

  • Raise awareness of cardiovascular diseases and their associated risk factors.
  • Promote recognition of signs and symptoms that require medical evaluation and should not be ignored.
  • ​Encourage heart-healthy behaviours, such as physical activity, healthy eating, and avoiding tobacco use.
  • Highlight the importance of knowing and monitoring measurable risk indicators, such as blood pressure, blood glucose, blood lipids, and weight.
  • Support prevention, early detection, and access to appropriate care to reduce complications from cardiovascular diseases.
