World PTSD Awareness Day is observed annually on June 27 to raise awareness of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), its symptoms, available treatments, and the importance of seeking professional support. PTSD may develop after experiencing or witnessing traumatic events such as serious accidents, violence, disasters, war, or severe illness. People with PTSD may relive the traumatic event through intrusive memories or nightmares.

Raise awareness of post-traumatic stress disorder and its prevalence.
Increase understanding of available treatment options.
Encourage affected individuals to seek appropriate professional care.
Promote awareness of the signs and symptoms of PTSD.
