World Environment Day is observed annually on June 5 to promote environmental protection and sustainable development. Since its launch in 1973, it has become a global platform celebrated in more than 150 countries, encouraging individuals, organizations, and communities to take meaningful action to protect the environment and address climate challenges.

Facts:
- Around 40% of the world’s land is degraded, affecting 3.2 billion people.
- By 2050, more than three-quarters of the global population could be affected by drought if land degradation continues.
- Achieving land degradation neutrality by 2030 requires restoring approximately 1.5 billion hectares of degraded land.
