Virtual Care: Breaking Boundaries in Advanced Healthcare

09 August 2026

The Ministry of Health and the healthcare system continue to leverage digital technologies and artificial intelligence to bring healthcare services closer to beneficiaries and facilitate access to them wherever they are, in line with the objectives of the Health Sector Transformation Program, stemming from Saudi Vision 2030. These efforts have reshaped the concept of healthcare delivery, making prevention the starting point and people’s health the ultimate goal, in a transformation that is redefining the relationship between beneficiaries and healthcare.
Seha Virtual Hospital stands out as one of the key pillars of this transformation. It is recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest virtual hospital and is connected to 241 hospitals and more than 1,400 health centers. It provides services across 114 major and subspecialties, enabling healthcare facilities locally and globally to access specialized medical expertise remotely, improve service efficiency, and accelerate medical decision-making.
Virtual care has also extended beyond healthcare facilities to accompany beneficiaries at home through the Sehhaty app, which exceeded 31 million users in 2025. The app provides a comprehensive range of digital health services, including appointment booking, viewing prescriptions, searching for medications, and issuing sick leaves. It also incorporates artificial intelligence technologies, including the digital twin, which enables health status analysis and provides personalized preventive recommendations, as well as the smart assistant, which helps interpret medical results and provides medication and appointment reminders through its integration with the beneficiary’s health record.
At the Global Health Exhibition 2025, the Saudi healthcare sector witnessed the signing of global agreements to launch the AI Physician experience to support accurate diagnosis and improve clinical decision-making. The event also saw the launch of the Smart Health Coach in collaboration with Google through the Sehhaty app, providing personalized health guidance and preventive recommendations based on beneficiaries’ data and health indicators.
In terms of health information integration, the Nafees platform has contributed to supporting and sustaining virtual care services by enabling the sharing of health information among healthcare providers. This supports healthcare practitioners in making more accurate and efficient medical decisions.
This digital integration reflects the supervisory role of the Ministry of Health in supporting and enabling a smart healthcare system driven by data and innovation. It enhances the quality of healthcare, improves service efficiency, and brings services closer to beneficiaries, ultimately contributing to a healthier society and a better quality of life.
