The Saudi Arabian delegation, led by H.E. Eng. Abdulaziz bin Hamad AlRamaih, Deputy Minister of Health for Planning and Development, concluded its participation in the BIO International Convention 2026, held in San Diego, United States, achieving several strategic outcomes, including the signing of international agreements and partnerships with leading global organizations. These efforts support the objectives of the Health Sector Transformation Program under Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Biotechnology Strategy, while strengthening the Kingdom’s position in biotechnology and health innovation at both the regional and global levels.
The participation featured the launch of the Launch in Saudi initiative to accelerate access to innovative healthcare solutions and advanced therapies in the Kingdom. It also included several partnerships between Saudi companies and international biotechnology and pharmaceutical innovators. Lean Business Services signed a partnership with Flagship Pioneering to advance AI-powered biomedical research, while SPIMACO partnered with Genetix Biotherapeutics to localize advanced biotechnology. Amarox also signed multiple agreements with global companies in pharmaceutical development and immunotherapies, in addition to several agreements between Saudi and international organizations.
The Ministry of Health also hosted a roundtable on advancing investment in clinical trials in Saudi Arabia, bringing together 40 leaders from global companies and international contract research organizations. The Saudi delegation held more than 30 strategic meetings and organized a panel discussion highlighting the Kingdom’s experience in building a competitive biotechnology ecosystem and developing its investment and regulatory environment. The delegation also visited leading international companies and research centers specializing in precision medicine, digital health, and pharmaceutical innovation to promote knowledge exchange and explore investment and collaboration opportunities.
Saudi Arabia is also set to host the BIO Middle East Biotechnology Conference from 14–16 December 2026, reinforcing its growing role as a regional hub for health innovation, research, and development. The BIO International Convention is the world’s largest biotechnology event, attracting more than 20,000 participants from over 70 countries each year, including industry leaders, investors, researchers, and regulators to showcase innovations and establish strategic partnerships in biotechnology and life sciences.
