06 October 2026

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, donated blood, officially launching the 2026 Annual National Blood Donation Campaign. This generous humanitarian gesture embodies His Royal Highness's ongoing commitment to humanitarian work, enhancing community health, and supporting national initiatives aimed at instilling a culture of giving and volunteering while encouraging community members to help save lives.

His Royal Highness's donation conveys an inspiring national and humanitarian message, reflecting the values of solidarity and unity upon which Saudi society is founded. It underscores the importance of blood donation as a noble humanitarian act that contributes to saving lives, supporting patients, and reinforcing a culture of volunteerism and giving across the community.

The campaign aims to raise awareness regarding the importance of regular voluntary blood donation, promote social responsibility, and contribute to achieving self-sufficiency in blood units and components. Blood donation stands as one of the most vital humanitarian practices that helps save the lives of patients and those requiring urgent medical care, including cancer patients, individuals with blood disorders, and critical cases.

This campaign comes as an extension of the Wise Leadership's approach to backing humanitarian and health initiatives and fostering community participation. It contributes to boosting voluntary blood donation rates and supporting the health ecosystem's efforts to ensure safe, sustainable supplies of blood and its components, thereby meeting the therapeutic needs of patients across all regions of the Kingdom.

The Kingdom continues to make remarkable progress in fostering a culture of voluntary blood donation. In 2025, the number of blood donors surpassed 900,000, as part of ongoing efforts to elevate voluntary donation rates and ensure the sustainability of the national blood stock. This aligns with the targets of the Health Sector Transformation Program and Saudi Vision 2030 toward building a vibrant society whose members enjoy better health and a higher quality of life.

It is worth noting that the 2025 Annual National Blood Donation Campaign, launched by HRH the Crown Prince, achieved a profound health and social impact. It quadrupled the number of donors, recording the highest donor turnout in the history of the Kingdom's blood banks with over 65,000 donors. Voluntary donations reached 100%, while first-time donors exceeded 85%. This turnout directly reflected on patient care: over 63,000 individuals benefited from blood units, 10,000 from platelets, and 10,000 from plasma, thereby strengthening blood bank readiness and establishing voluntary donation as a sustainable community practice.
