The Ministry of Health (MOH) has announced the implementation of a new phase of the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign. The Pfizer vaccine will be given to people in the age group of 12-18 years, after the approval of the Saudi Food & Drug Authority (SFDA), and the completion of scientific studies that showed the vaccine effectiveness for this group.
MOH highlighted that this step comes in continuation of its efforts to expand the administration of the vaccine, after vaccinating 70% of the adult population in the Kingdom, and then giving the second dose for those aged 50 years and older. “This second dose will be gradually given to younger age groups, according to the progress in community coverage, the priority categories, in addition to the availability of vaccines supply. Appointments for taking the vaccine can be scheduled through «Sehhaty» and «Tawakkalna» Apps,” stated MOH.
MOH added that the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign is proceeding as planned. So far, 17,255,254 vaccine doses have been administered to citizens and residents through more than 587 centers across the Kingdom.
