KSMC: 2,500 Newborn Screenings for Rare Diseases in 2 Years

According to King Saud Medical City (KSMC), over the past two years, the Pediatric Hospital has examined 2,500 children suffering from rare diseases (e.g. inherited metabolic disorders, genetic syndromes, and genetic skeletal dysplasias). Coinciding with the World Rare Disease Day, KSMC has underscored the importance of early examination of newborns and genetic testing, highlighting its role in diagnosing rare diseases and speeding up their treatment.
