01 February 2021

As per a resolution by the Council of Ministers last month, three hospitals in Madinah (Maternity and Children Hospital, Madinah Hospital, and Eradah Complex for Mental Health) have been converted into a medical city. It is the first integrated medical city in the region with a capacity of 1,246 beds.

According to the Health Minister, Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, the new complex has been named after the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz
“Renaming the medical city after King Salman is a source of pride for all the people of the region in general and its employees in particular,” he said.

This comes as a part of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ continuous support for the health sector for the sake of the nation and citizens by providing the highest quality medical care for the citizens and visitors of Madinah, Al-Rabiah added

He said such support and renaming of the city will enable it to expand the specialized care to citizens and residents, to facilitate access to them and to improve the quality of both preventive and therapeutic health services according to the highest medical and technical standards. He prayed for Allah Almighty to bestow heath on the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and to perpetuate the safety and stability of our dear Kingdom.

It is noteworthy that King Salman Medical City features several medical specialties for serving citizens in Madinah and its governorates. The services are provided through many facilities such as: Neuroscience Center, Oncology Center, Diabetes Center, Heart Center, Research Center, Training and Simulation Center, and other buildings, including emergency, outpatient clinics, Multi-storey car park
