16 December 2019

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has won the innovative team award for project management, as part of Hamdan bin Mohammed Award for Innovation in Project Management. The award was received by the Assistant Deputy Minister of Health for Empowerment, Eng. Fahad bin Saleh Al-Azzam, who is also the team leader, during a ceremony in Dubai in the presence of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council.

The ministry team has established the institutional Project Management Office (PMO), in accordance with internationally recognized best practices, designed to fit work requirements at MOH. This system is characterized by a strong base that enables the effective management and follow-up of projects and initiatives, linking 20 regional administrations across the Kingdom with the main center in Riyadh. The team was able to accomplish the project in an innovative way through the use of design thinking methodology.

It is noteworthy that the PMO handles a number of tasks, including ensuring that MOH's projects are linked to their strategic objectives, providing senior officials with periodic reports on the performance of agencies and regions to ensure that the projects are progressing as per the prescribed plan. They also include enabling agencies and directorates to implement a methodology compatible with the international best practices, as well as empowering the professional competencies, and developing the human capital, in order to obtain the best results.
