Prince Sultan Cardiac Center - Al-Ahsa Obtains International Accreditation

Prince Sultan Cardiac Center - Al-Ahsa has obtained international accreditation as an ECMO Center by the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO).
 
It is noted that Prince Sultan Cardiac Center - Al-Ahsa with its 73-bed capacity provides cardiac healthcare services 24/7 to all cardiac patients - adults, children and neonates - by highly qualified medical, nursing and technical teams. Recently, the Center recorded an increased patient flow in its outpatient clinics, with 42,645 outpatients served during the third quarter of 2017.
 
The Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) is an international non-profit consortium of health care centers to develop, evaluate and improve innovative therapies for support of failing organ systems in the neonate, child and adult. ELSO is made up of a broad multidisciplinary collaboration of physicians, nurses, perfusionists, respiratory therapists, technicians, researchers. ELSO provides education and expertise in ECMO delivery around the world.
 
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Health (MOH) is currently implementing MOH's Performance Program, which covers 70 main hospitals and aims to boost productivity, performance quality and efficiency of health services in hospitals. The program features over 40 indicators to measure the performance of seven key therapeutic aspects, including emergency, clinics, surgeries, hospitalization, ICU, radiology and labs. The program also aims to develop the skills of health professionals to use the indicators and to identify performance improvement potentials, in compliance with patient safety and quality standards.
