MOH: Unlicensed Expatriates Caught Doing Blood and Sight Test for Driving License Applicants
05 February 2017
The Ministry of Health (MOH) has closed down today (Sunday) a number of booths run by unlicensed expatriates north of Dallah Driving School, for providing medical services, sight and blood examination, for those applying to obtain driving license. In a move through which the MOH can tighten supervision over violators of the health systems, the offenders were referred to the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution.
Acting on a tip-off, via the number 937 about a booth adjacent to Dallah Driving School in which unlicensed expatriates perform medical tests for sight and blood, a committee from the MOH and other related parties visited the site and arrested the leader of the group. All booths in the same area were also closed down and acknowledgments were made not to reopen them.
Previously, the MOH announced that it has agreed with the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution to carry out the investigation and prosecution powers of offenses that are punishable for varied prison terms in accordance with the Health Profession Practice Law. This comes in implementation of the Royal Decree provided for transferring specialties of the departments and committees pertaining to investigation and prosecution in criminal offenses to the Bureau. Also according to the regulations violators of the Health Profession Practice Law are punishable by imprisonment and fine.
The MOH reaffirmed the importance of taking precautions and making sure all official licenses are obtained from the competent authorities, since such illegal behaviors endanger public health and safety of visitors to these places. It called on everyone to report any violating establishments.
