Small Fire at Dammam Medical Tower Brought Under Control without Any Injuries
25 December 2015
Page Content
The Eastern Region Health Affairs General Directorate announced that a small fire occurred today, Friday, at around 2:00 a.m., at a corner of the lecture hall in Dammam Medical Tower. Thankfully, the fire was limited and brought under control at that hall, which located on the second floor and not connected to inpatient rooms. The fire alarm and sprinkler systems went off automatically just after the fire had broken out, and then the fire was brought under control in time without any injuries.
The emergency plan, adopted in such cases, was implemented in a timely manner. Due to smoke billowing, some inpatients, whose rooms were on the upper floor of the fire, had been evacuated to other departments for their health and safety, by the internal emergency teams, including medical, nursing, supportive security and safety staff. After putting out the fire and getting rid of its smoke, all facilities of Dammam Medical Complex are running back normally, and health services are provided as usual for patients and visitors.
The senior officials at the Eastern Region Health Affairs General Directorate immediately proceeded to the fire location, and the Civil Defense teams came to the hospital and dealt with the incident efficiently and professionally, under the supervision of their leadership in the Eastern region. Also, several emergency teams from the Saudi Red Crescent went to the scene.
The Eastern Region Health Affairs General Directorate extends thanks and gratitude to all teams who responded to the accident, meanwhile extending sincere apologies to all patients in the complex for any inconvenience caused.
