MOH: ‘The Saudi Non-Physician Investor Can Own a Medical Complex by Virtue of the Law’
03 January 2015
In reference to the inaccurate information published in some media outlets on the Private Health Institution Law and its Executive Regulation, the Ministry of Health (MOH) would like to make clear that laws are issued, by virtue of a Royal Decree, after being discussed in the Consultative “Shura” Council, and then submitted to the Council of Ministers.

Within the same vein, the MOH’s role in this respect is to issue the executive regulation clarifying the law’s articles, as well as reviewing and amending the regulation, whenever necessary, in such a manner serving the public interest, meanwhile going in line with the law.

As for the claims published in some media outlets that the Ministry shall no longer allow investors to own a private health institution, the Ministry would like to reiterate that Article (2) of the aforementioned law stipulates that the Saudi non-physician investor can own a medical complex, and that there is nothing in the executive regulation contradicting, neither explicitly nor implicitly, with this text.
