Overview:
Nationsl Nutrition Month is observed annually in March under this year’s theme, “Food Connects Us.” The initiative aims to raise awareness of the importance of balanced nutrition across the community, encourage informed food choices, promote healthy eating habits, and support physical activity.
Objectives:
- Raise awareness of balanced, healthy nutrition and the importance of iron intake.
- Educate the community about the risks and symptoms of vitamin and mineral deficiencies.
- Increase awareness of when to visit a physician or specialist to receive appropriate treatment.
Facts:
- Unhealthy diets and physical inactivity are among the leading global risk factors threatening health.
- Adopting a healthy diet helps prevent all forms of malnutrition and reduces the risk of noncommunicable diseases, including diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and cancer.
