World Children's Day

Overview:

World Children's Day is an annual event that commemorates the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and is a Global Day of Action for and with children. The event highlights the importance of children's rights as universal and non-negotiable human rights and calls for their promotion and listening to children's voices to create a better world today and in the future.

Objectives:

  • Strengthen international cohesion and awareness among children around the world.
  • Provide an environment in which all children are enrolled in schools, safe from harm, and able to achieve their potential and dreams.
  • Increase awareness of children's rights and improve children's welfare.

 

Facts:

  • Current demographic shifts will shape future population patterns and impact children's lives through 2050.
  • Three major global trends will profoundly impact children's lives through 2050: demographic shifts, climate and environmental crises, and frontier technologies.
