- Raising awareness about the importance of early detection of lung cancer.
- Encouraging people with symptoms to get tested and diagnosed early.
Facts:
- Lung cancer is the most common cancer and the leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide.
- In 2022, 2.5 million people were diagnosed with lung cancer, and 1.8 million died from the disease.
- Lung cancer causes twice as many deaths as colorectal cancer.
- Smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer, accounting for 85% of cases.
- Other risk factors include environmental pollution, second-hand tobacco smoke and diesel exhaust.
