International Nurses Day is celebrated on 12 May annually, which corresponds to the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the pioneer of modern nursing. This day is an opportunity to highlight the vital role played by nurses in serving society and to appreciate their valuable efforts and contributions.

- Exerting efforts to understand and envision the future of nursing.

Facts:
It is estimated that if current trends continue, the Region will face a shortage of 1.2 million nurses by 2030, which will have a significant impact on health care delivery. Therefore, WHO stresses the importance of investing in the education and recruitment of nurses and midwives, as well as providing them with a safe and stimulating work environment, to achieve universal health coverage and enhance the efficiency of health systems.
