Health Days 2023

World Immunization Week

Overview
World Immunization Week - celebrated every year in the last week of April - aims to promote the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages against disease.

Objectives:
  • Increase confidence in vaccines to maintain or increase vaccine acceptance.
  • Increase investment in vaccines, including routine immunization, to remove barriers to access.
  • While the world focuses on new vaccines that are so important to protect against COVID-19, there is still a need to ensure that routine vaccinations are not missed; As many children were not vaccinated during the global pandemic, which puts them at risk of contracting serious diseases such as measles and polio, the circulation of misinformation about vaccination is rapidly increasing this threat.

Facts:
Immunization saves millions of lives each year and is widely recognized as one of the most successful health interventions in the world. However; There are still nearly 20 million children in the world today who do not get the vaccines they need, and many of them miss out on vital vaccines through adolescence, adulthood, and old age.
