World Sarcoma Awareness Month

Overview:
Bone cancer can start in any bone in the body, but it usually affects the pelvis or long bones such as the leg or hand.

Symptoms:
  • Bone pain
  • Swelling or lump observed around the damaged bone.
  • In some cases, cancer weakens the bone and makes it breakable easily.
  • Some less common symptoms include excessive sweating, especially at night, sudden weight loss, and a high temperature.

Facts:
  • Bone cancer is rare making less than 1% of all types of cancer.
  • About six out of ten people with bone cancer will live at least five years from their diagnosis, and many of them make a full recovery.
  • Treatment of bone cancer depends on the type of cancer, the patient’s health, and the extent to which the disease has spread.
