Thalassemia day

​​Overview:
May 8th is celebrated annually as World Thalassemia Day. It is an inherited blood cell disorder and is described by a low level of hemoglobin and a lower number of red blood cells than normal. World Thalassemia Day aims to commemorate thalassemia patients who have died from the disease and to encourage those who are still alive.

Objectives:

  • Educating thalassemia patients to follow the treatment plan correctly to avoid complications
  • Educating thalassemia patients about the importance of consulting a doctor before marriage
  • Educating the community about the importance of immunizations for the health of children and society.

Facts:

  • Thalassemia may cause anemia, making affected people feel exhausted.
  • More severe cases of thalassemia require regular blood transfusions.
  • Steps can be taken to live with the symptoms of thalassemia, such as fatigue and exhaustion, by choosing a healthy diet and exercising regularly.
