Supervisor-General's Message

Supervisor-General's Message

In the name of Almighty Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He, and blessings and peace be upon His Prophet, Muhammad.

This message is addressed to all workers in the health sector: May God bless our work on this program and help us implement and develop it, in pursuit of attaining the desired outcomes. Let me, first of all, inform you that His Excellency, the Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, pays thorough attention, keen interest, and prudent follow-up to the implementation of this program. He is looking forward to maintaining a national program meant to follow up hospital beds and prepare statistics about them, complying with the international standards in this respect,  and covering all the Kingdom's health sectors; both governmental, non-governmental and private. The Ministry of Health, in so doing, aims to ensure, as soon as possible, a bed for the patient whenever needed. To that end, this comprehensive directory has been issued, including the program's administrative and technical structure at the level of the ministry and the Kingdom's regions, as well as the functions of each department or division affiliated to the Bed Management Program, giving, besides, brief hints at “Day Surgery” (also known as ambulatory surgery), and the presumable periods the patient is expected to spend at the hospital, in addition to developing a method calculate clinical indicators.

Moreover, the E-Program (www.bmap.med.sa) has been inaugurated and applied in some regions, and by the end of this year, God willing, it will be covering the entire Kingdom. Through this program, daily statistics and immediate results relating to bed occupancy rate, bed circulation rate, and the average time for the patient's stay at the hospital, will be available. Also, it provides statistics about how long the patient should wait before he can get a bed in routine and emergency cases, so that the right action could be taken accordingly. Still, there is another sort of statistics the website will be providing, relating to Day Surgery in governmental hospitals, those accommodating at least 100 beds.

The Program aims to provide an accurate tally of the number of beds in the hospitals of the Ministry of Health and other governmental sectors, as well as the private sector, and to identify future needs in of the Kingdom's various regions over the coming years.

To conclude, I would like to thank His Excellency the Minister of Health, who gave his orders to establish this Program, and His Excellency the Deputy Minister for Planning and development, for his support and sighted guidance which added much to the improvement of the Program performance. Also, I would like to extend my gratitude to all my colleagues at different health sectors, who contributed to the preparation of this directory.

May Allah help us all;  He is All-Hearing and All-Responding

                                           Supervisor-General of Bed Management Program,

                                                              Dr. Yasser bin Saeed Al-Ghamidi
