Our wise government has spared no effort to provide the best means of decent life to both the citizen and resident living on the soil of this generous country. And in this spirit, it places the health of the citizen at the top of its strategic priorities. The "health economics" is considered one of the important aspects of health in a world that depends totally on the economy. It is a new branch of the economics concerned with how to apply the economic tools to health care issues and to clarify its different aspects, so as to become more analyzable. Economics also provides criteria to determine whether health policies increase or decrease economic efficiency and fairness of distribution of health care, in addition to allocation of the economic resources, that are by nature scarce, to the contested healthcare purposes, as per the priorities established by the Ministry of Health in its strategic plan. The Assistant Agency for Health Economics aims at developing its work mechanism and establishing new strategies to help the Ministry to find out how to provide health care at the lowest possible cost and how to fairly distribute the health services to those who need them.
May Allah guide us to the benefit of our country and our citizens – Allah is the arbiter of success.
Assistant Deputy Minister of Health for Health Economics,
Dr. Saleh bin Ibrahim Al-Suhaibani
