His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saad bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Hail, in the presence of His Excellency the Health Minister, Dr. Tawfiq Al Rabiah, will launch tomorrow the first phase of King Salman Specialist Hospital-Hail. On completion, the Hospital will have a 500-bed capacity (valued at SR 500M). It also offers an outstanding added value and qualitative shift in health services across the Kingdom in general and Hail in particular. The hospital features a number of specialized sections and clinics in different medical specialties. It is expected to increase available beds across the Affairs’ facilities and reduce outside referrals, Allah Willing.
It is worth mentioning that MOH has increased the bed capacity of its hospitals in 2017 by 1,822 beds; thus, making 43,675 beds in total instead of 41,835 beds. This came as part of MOH’s endeavors to enhance hospital’s bed capacity for inpatient wards and to reduce hospitalization waiting lists. By Allah’s Grace, this has positively improved MOH’s medical services and boosted patient satisfaction. To that end, MOH has inaugurated new hospitals, and geared up the present capacity of hospitals by recruiting more doctors and adding more beds.
In its 2017 achievements report, MOH stated that one-day surgeries increased from 44% to 55% (with 112,095 one-day surgeries). Also, waiting lists were reduced through supplying health facilities with needed appliances for one-day surgeries, in addition to key indicators to increase the number of this type of surgeries.
Furthermore, MOH added 65 new healthcare centers, making all health centers across the Kingdom into 2,390 instead of 2,325. These centers have helped provide facility-based health services to over 300,000 citizens. These centers have been enhanced with necessary manpower, appliances and medical supplies. Also, new 39 centers are designated to operate for longer hours up to 11:00 p.m. In so doing, 204 centers so far operate up to 11:00 p.m. instead of 165 centers before. MOH seeks to provide comprehensive coverage across the Kingdom, to reduce congestion and to meet the beneficiaries’ needs. Hence, more manpower (highly trained doctors) have been supplied, in addition to training the existing medical and administrative staff and providing security services in all centers on duty.
