According to Taif Health Affairs, King Abdulaziz Specialist Hospital has provided its health services to more than 161,946 cases in 2017.
The emergency department has witnessed key development programs and plans which have effectively secured optimal ambulatory and therapeutic services, through an (e-Follow-up) system to monitor patients and all their related affairs, to ensure a seamless and safe service, and to boost productivity, effectiveness and bed turn-over. As well, the triage system has been improved to ensure patient safety and satisfaction, and to enhance the provided health services. In the same vein, the time required for emergency lab tests is enhanced to help reduce waiting time, delivery of the right treatment and health service. In addition an (e-pharmacy) has been created, along with on-premises visual instructions to guide both patients and their families to the department's key divisions. The hospital's management has also successfully reduced consultation periods, time-to-doctor at the emergency, for hospitalization, ICU, discharge or for referral.
Presently, the emergency department witnesses extensive developmental projects, with first phase completed (33-bed capacity), as well as the Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS) to help both patients and their families.
It is noteworthy that the MOH has launched a daily specialization-based e-Waiting List for surgical operations on its online portal. The list features the MOH's hospitals, along with surgical specializations and corresponding waiting days respectively. The list also includes five levels of waiting days, from one to 180 days. By launching this initiative, MOH aims to update all patients and beneficiaries of services provided by its health facilities on the developmental efforts to boost performance levels, and to provide high quality services to satisfy and meet the health needs of citizens.
