Preparing the Holy Sites Hospitals Conducting Gastrointestinal Endoscopicsurgeries

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has prepared eight hospitals in the Holy sites; in order to conduct the upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopic surgeries, whether diagnostic or therapeutic.

They were equipped with medical and non-medical devices to perform all the therapeutic procedures made in the specialized hospitals. In doing so, the MOH designated specialized endoscopy consultants; to conduct these surgeries, specialized technical nurses, and it has provided the necessary equipment for carrying out the therapeutic endoscopy such as variceal ligation, injecting bleeding varices, removing carnosities : in the upper or lower gastrointestinal tract, and distributing the digestive system channels.

Moreover, the Ministry of Health (MOH) in collaboration of the King Abdullah Medical City conducted the bile duct therapeutic endoscopy through referring cases by the air evacuation.

Similarly,the Arafat General Hospital is among the biggest hospitals with regard to endoscopy surgeries in the Holy Sites. Meanwhile, on Sunday morning, 13/10/2013, two therapeutic stomach endoscopic surgeries were performed to two patients from the Madinah medical convoy during which peptic ulcer bleeding was successfully stemmed.

The surgery was conducted by the gastrointestinal, liver, and endoscopy consultant; and head of the internal medicine section of the King Fahad Hospital in Jeddah, Dr. Hammad Shuja'a Al-Usmani.

It is mentionable that the endoscopy section of the Arafat General Hospital was prepared for conducting the therapeutic endoscopy surgeries in a highly advanced way; in order to meet the Hajj performers' health needs.
