In a show of regional solidarity, the Saudi Ministry of Health took part in a high-level GCC gathering held in Riyadh to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The event, hosted by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretariat, brought together senior officials from member states' health and interior ministries, including Dr. Mohammed Al-Battal, Deputy Minister of Interior, and Rakan bin Daheesh, Assistant Deputy Minister of Health for International Cooperation.
The meeting highlighted the collective efforts of GCC countries in combating drug abuse and focused on strengthening regional cooperation, sharing expertise, and advancing unified strategies for prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.
Saudi Arabia showcased its integrated national approach, emphasizing the close coordination between the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Interior in launching joint programs that span awareness campaigns, treatment services, and post-recovery care.
The event underscored the GCC's firm commitment to safeguarding public health and enhancing regional resilience against the threat of drug abuse.
