3 Hours for a Patient's Skull Base Grafting

​A specialized medical team ended the suffering of a 50-year-old patient suffering from a puncture at the base of the skull that caused him to leak cerebrospinal fluid with an endoscopic operation that lasted for 3 hours. Al-Madinah Health Cluster confirmed that the patient attended the emergency department of Ohud Hospital as a critical case, and he was almost unconscious. Clinical examinations were immediately conducted that showed a puncture at the base of the skull with a tumor inside the cerebral ventricles and an enlargement of brain ventricles. The patient was examined by a joint medical team specialized in otolaryngology and neurosurgery at King Salman Medical City. The team decided to perform a skull base grafting surgery by locating the puncture using neuronavigation. The surgery was very successful, praise be to Allah. The treating medical team confirmed that the patient's health condition has stabilized, and the follow-up is carried out by the specialized medical team, emphasizing the complexity of the surgery which was modern to neurosurgeries, and it was performed with a great success. It is noteworthy that Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah Hospital at King Salman Medical City performed 2,702 operations during the first half of this year, 2022.​
