The Ministry of Health (MOH) launches today (Wednesday) the activities of the awareness campaign on hand hygiene under the theme “For Seconds Protect Your Life – Clean Your Hands”, with the aim of increasing commitment to hand hygiene at health facilities in particular and society in general. The campaign also aims at reducing the transmission of infection in health facilities, particularly respiratory diseases.
The campaign is organized for the sixth consecutive year and includes training of health practitioners and setting up awareness channels to educate the community about the proper techniques of hand hygiene, and others.
It is noteworthy that the objectives of the campaign, which will continue until next December, include making hand hygiene a global priority and engaging with health care workers in their role in clean care and the prevention of infections. Health workers and community members alike can play a role in preventing infections by practicing regular and frequent handwashing.
