According to Madinah Health Affairs, over the past year (2020), the Laboratory and Blood Bank Department of King Fahad General Hospital has conducted 2,108,524 various lab tests, with 5,887 tests at histology/ histopathology section, in addition to receiving 6,735 blood donors at the blood bank department.
The Laboratory features 12 major specialized sections, conducting 304 various tests. These sections include hematology, hemoglobin electrophoresis, cytometry, routine chemistry, special chemistry, hormones, immunology, serums, histological conformity, microbiology, histology, and blood bank.
It is noted that King Fahad General Hospital is the main reference hospital in the region, and has many affiliated centers, such as Endocrinology and Diabetes Center, Blood and Cancer Center, King Abdulaziz Kidney Center, Specialized Dental Center and Home Care, in addition to outpatient clinics that have many delicate specialties.
