Overview:
Lung cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in the world, and it is celebrated and educated about lung cancer in our society, to raise awareness and combat the negative perception of lung cancer as part of lung cancer awareness.
 
Objectives:
  • Awareness of risk factors that increase the possibility of developing lung cancer.
  • ​Awareness of symptoms of lung cancer.
  • Raising awareness on the importance of early detection of lung cancer.
  • Supporting scientific research related to lung cancer.
  • Encourage people with symptoms to seek early examination and diagnosis
  • Paying attention to the experiences of patients and their families, and showing support and encouragement
Facts:
  • 1.80 million deaths occurred in the year 2020 in the world due to lung cancer.
  • It ranks eighth in the Kingdom in relation to other types of cancer.
  • In 2021, 80% of lung cancer deaths due to smoking.
  • ​Most people with lung cancer do not show symptoms until they are in an advanced stage.
  • Early detection of lung cancer increases treatability, so encouraging people to recognize symptoms, such as persistent cough, shortness of breath, and sudden weight loss, and to see a doctor early can save lives.
Some risk factors, such as smoking or exposure to secondhand smoke, increase the risk of developing lung cancer.
