World Cancer Day
Overview:
World Cancer Day is celebrated this year on February 4th, 2022, to unite the entire world to raise awareness and take action.  The World Cancer Day is an initiative under which the entire world can unite together in the fight against the cancer. 

Facts:
  • In 2018, 18 million people were diagnosed with cancer worldwide.
  • Many types of cancer show early symptoms and signs such as cancers of the breast, cervix, colon, rectum, skin and some childhood cancers.
  • Even if you do not show any signs or symptoms of cancer, examination of some types of cancer can show signs of having the disease, such as: cancers of the intestine, breast, cervix, colorectal (colon), and lung
  • More than one third of all cancers are preventable.
Objectives:
  • Reducing premature deaths from non-communicable diseases (NCDs) by 25% by 2025.
  • Educating communities about cancer diseases and means to prevent them.
  • Encouraging early detection and preventive vaccines, as well as raising awareness of their importance.
  • Emphasizing that solutions are possible and available, and we as individuals, government and non-governmental organizations and agencies can provide means of support, awareness, and prevention of cancer.

“Close the Care Gap”
The theme aims to raise awareness of cancer everywhere; to ensure treatment and prevention for as many people as possible.
