Health Days 2016

Global Handwashing Day
Global Handwashing Day is celebrated on 15 October of each year. The Global Public-Private Partnership for Handwashing with Soap (PPPHW) established Global Handwashing Day in 2008 as a way to promote a global and local vision of handwashing with soap. It was approved by world governments and organizations, civil society organizations, NGOs, private companies and individuals from all over the world.
Objectives of the World Handwashing Day:
  • To generalize the habit of handwashing with soap, making it an automatic behavior in homes and schools and other communities in the world, since it is the most effective and inexpensive way to prevent infectious diseases.
  • To reduce the rate of mortality related to digestive system diseases such as diarrhea and respiratory diseases by introducing simple behavioral changes, such as handwashing with soap.
