Minister of Health Ratifies the Contracts of Five Health Projects

In compliance with the directives given by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to allocate a sum of SR 16 billion, meant to establish a number of medical cities throughout the Kingdom's regions, His Excellency the Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, has ratified, this afternoon, the contract of contract of the establishment of King Faisal Medical City in the Southern Province (1st phase), along with the contracts of four other projects, with a total cost of SR 1.476.936.946.
 
On this occasion, Dr. Al-Rabeeah expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, May Allâh protect them, for their ongoing and unstinting support for health services. Meanwhile, he treasured this gracious gesture which reflects, in the first place, the Wise Leadership's keen interest preserving the health and prosperity of the citizens of the Kingdom of Humanity.
 
The approved projects encompass the first phase of King Faisal Medical City in the Southern Province. Under this phase, the main hospital of City is planned to be established, with a bed capacity of 500 beds, and at total budget of SR 642.235.175. This project was awarded to Al-Fouzan Trading & General Construction Co. to be carried out within up to 36 months. The second project has to do with the first phase of the residential towers of King Fahad Medical City. Under this phase, six 15-storey residential towers are planned to be established for unmarried women, at a total budget of SR 448.445.000. This project was awarded to Al-Rashid Trading & Contracting Co. to be carried out within up to 24 months.
 
Among the approved projects, besides, is the establishment of the Maternity and Children Hospital in Skaka (Al-Jawf Region), with a bed capacity of 300 beds, and at a total budget of SR 252.161.423. The contract of this project was awarded to Musaad Al-Otaiby Co. to be carried out within up to 36 months. In addition to these contracts, two contracts to replace generators forklifts throughout the Kingdom within up to 9 months were signed with Khalid Fahad Al-Boayz Contracting Co. (at a cost of SR 108.404.074) and Al-Khorayef Commercial Co. (at a cost of SR 25.691.274).
 
Dr. Al-Rabeeah pointed out that the ratification of these contracts comes as part of the Ministry's diligent pursuit of completing the remaining medical cities and health projects in a number of the Kingdom's regions and provinces. He said, “Today, we are pleased to sign these important contracts which reflects the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' vision, and put his directives into effect, with the aim to preserve citizens' health.”
 
“Insomuch as these medical cities and specialized hospitals are financially and administratively independent,” Dr. Al-Rabeeah added, “the Ministry of Health (MOH) has been always keen to provide the administrative environment appropriate for the organization of their work and optimal utilization of their potentials and capabilities. Such a target could be attained through a unified board of directors, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Health, and with the participation of the relevant ministries. This board is account for orienting work in these institutions towards the aspired vision. The Board has already accomplished numerous achievements, as part of the National Project of Integrated and Comprehensive Health Care.”
 
As his announcement came to a close, His Excellency the Minister of Health, Dr. Al-Rabeeah, prayed for Allâh to protect the Wise Leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and to perpetuate its security and stability.
 
It is worth mentioning that King Faisal Medical City (to be located on an area of 262.836 m2, including a specialized hospital, a specialized eye hospital, a heart and neuroscience hospital, and a physical therapy center) has been designed by HDR Limited Inc. (Middle East), which one of the world's leading companies in this domain. The total bed capacity of the City is 1350 beds, to be distributed to a number of medical centers. The City includes, also, a number of 200 independent housing units and 200 apartments for workers.
