• ​​​Mandatory Vaccinations
  1. Coronavirus (COVID-19)
  • All those wishing to perform Hajj are required to complete vaccinations with approved vaccines in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  • Submitting a negative PCR COVID-19 test 72 hours prior to departure to the Kingdom.
  • Their age should not exceed 65 years.​
    2. Neisseria Meningitides:
  • All those wishing to perform Hajj, Umrah or to be present in Hajj and Umrah areas for any other purpose, adults and children of one year or older, are required to present a valid vaccination certificate proving that they have received the ACYW vaccine at least 10 days before coming to the Hajj and Umrah areas
  • Vaccination with one of the following vaccines is acceptable:​
    • Quadrivalent Meningococcal ACYW Polysaccharide Vaccine, provided that the period since receiving the vaccine shall not exceed (3) years.
    • Quadrivalent Meningococcal (ACYW) Conjugate Vaccine, provided that the period since receiving the vaccine shall not exceed (5) years.
  • Scientific evidence indicates that the conjugate vaccine is effective and safe for those over 55 years old.
  • The health authority in the country from which the pilgrim or Umrah pilgrim comes, must ensure that he obtains the vaccine on time and clearly writes the name of the vaccine used and the date it was given in the vaccination certificate. Note that in the event that the type of quadrivalent vaccine is not specified in the vaccination certificate, the validity period of the vaccination certificate shall be considered three years from the date of taking the vaccine.
   3. Poliovirus:
  • Those coming from countries where wild poliovirus or the circulating vaccine-derived polioviruses (cVDPV1) is prevalent, are required to present a valid vaccination certificate stating that they have received at least one dose of bivalent oral polio vaccine (bOPV) or inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) for a period of no less than (4) weeks and not more than (12) months before coming to Saudi Arabia.
  • Those coming from countries where the circulating vaccine-derived polioviruses (cVDPV2) is prevalent are required to present a valid vaccination certificate stating that they have received at least one dose of the inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) for a period of no less than (4) weeks and not more than (12) months before coming to Saudi Arabia. If the inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) is not available, a certificate of vaccination against oral polio vaccine (OPV) can be submitted within a period of no less than 4 weeks and not more than 6 months before coming to the Kingdom.​
   4. Yellow Fever:
Arriving persons who are older than (9) months from the countries and regions where yellow fever is prevalent are required to present a valid vaccination certificate stating that they have received the yellow fever vaccine prior to their arrival in Saudi Arabia. Note that the yellow fever vaccination certificate becomes valid after (10) days of receiving the vaccine, and its validity extends for lifelong.

Seasonal Flu:

It is recommended for all those coming for Umrah, Hajj, seasonal work, or for any other purpose in the Hajj and Umrah areas to receive the seasonal flu vaccine at least (10) days before their arrival in Saudi Arabia, especially pregnant women, children under the age of (5) years, the elderly, and those with chronic diseases (e.g. heart disease, respiratory diseases, renal diseases, metabolism, nervous system, hepatic system or hematological system) and individuals with immunosuppressive conditions (e.g. HIV/AIDS, receiving chemotherapy or steroids, or tumors). The Ministry of Health encourages all countries from which pilgrims and Umrah pilgrims come to secure sufficient quantities of the latest flu vaccines. For Hajj this year, the southern hemisphere vaccine will be available. The Ministry of Health recommends that all pilgrims from the northern hemisphere or countries that use the northern hemisphere vaccine receive the southern hemisphere vaccine at least (10) days before the date of their arrival to Saudi Arabia.
