09 July 2022
According to the Ministry of Health (MOH), the medical staff of Cardiac Center at King Abdullah Medical City (KAMC)-Makkah has successfully saved the life of a German pilgrim after his heart stopped for 17 seconds, and supported his heart with a cardiac pacemaker.

It is noted that the KAMC has provided the cardiac pacemaker over the recent years for the treatment of cardiac cases. The Center’s electrocardiography team implant a pacemaker, which is a small wireless capsule, to be placed intravenously using a cardiac catheter. This cardiac pacemaker is implanted to help control heartbeat and prevent cardiac arrest.

It is worth mentioning that MOH provides this pacemaker free for pilgrims, despite it is very expensive.
