MOH Launches Mobile Dialysis Service in Holy Sites
06 July 2022
The Ministry of Health (MOH), as part of its seasonal efforts to serve pilgrims, receives patients with kidney failure 24/7 during this year’s Hajj season, with a total capacity of up to 1,000 patients per day and 30,000 dialysis sessions per month in the holy sites and Madinah.

MOH has fully equipped all its healthcare centers, and enhanced them with highly qualified medical staff (totaling 57 doctors, 228 nurses, as well as administrative staff), in addition to 251 dialysis machines.

MOH is working on coordination between kidney centers in hospitals of the holy sites and Makkah according to pilgrims’ movements and their performance of rituals, as well as scheduling dialysis sessions, after the pilgrim records his data in one of such kidney units. Then, the technical staff will guide him/her every time to the nearest kidney unit according to his/her ritual movements.

It is worth mentioning that MOH has launched the mobile dialysis service, with 10 machines that are featured with easy transportation and operation, and can be used anywhere during emergency transportation, and in hospitals where central dialysis units are not available, as well as inside pilgrim camps (when necessary), in line with requirements and standards.
