Assistant Agency for Preventive Health

Assistant Deputy Minister's Message
The MOH Assistant Agency for Preventive Health is affiliated to the Public Health Agency, and its subsidiary departments (Health Facilities Infection Control General Department, Environmental and Occupational Health General Department, and Field Epidemiology Program). Being the authority supervising them, and among the authorities accountable for the safety and well-being of citizens and residents, in accordance with the health policies adopted by KSA, the Assistant Agency takes as its objective attaining, Allah willing, an entirely healthy society, void of diseases, epidemics or outbreaks In this spirit, the Assistant Agency, since its inception, has been always committed to the responsibilities entrusted to it in the domains of infection control (both infectious and chronic diseases), workers' health and sterilization, thus doing our best to protect the country against the proliferation of diseases, and curbing their impact, which is pivotal at the legislative, social, economic and ethical fronts, being an indivisible, integrative part of the sound development and planning.

In its quest to preserve health, the Assistant Agency has done every effort within its power, in a manner that satisfies the aspirations of the Rulers of the Kingdom. This comes as no surprise, given that the Basic Law for Saudi Arabia provides for the State commitment to preserving the health and well-being of every Saudi citizen and resident, and achieving justice amongst all.

The Assistant Agency assigns and urges the bodies affiliated to it to apply the health systems, requirements, and standards of the existing and newly-established governmental or private health facilities, and to detect the irregularities. This comes out of its interest in applying the general health system and its executive regulations, limiting the diseases, and fighting them.

Furthermore, the Agency greatly considers the educational and cultural aspect of the health field through annual programs and plans to raise the awareness level of the society segments and make them a main partner in protecting the community against the diseases and fighting them. Thus, it began to capitalize on all the means which achieve the goal of raising the awareness through the media channels and others.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) made impressive strides in the different fields just like the other governmental sectors which received the wholehearted support from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his Heir-Apparent. As a result, it managed to cover all the Kingdom's regions by providing the most advanced hospitals and centers  and equipping them with  the latest devices and equipment which enable them to obtain the most precise health  information about the patient, contributing to delivering the services to their beneficiaries whether in the governmental or private sectors. It also played a great role in providing the information related to the diseases and outbreaks for the governmental bodies and others, to benefit from this information.

In conclusion, I would like to stress on the importance of joining hands to face the pressures and threats confronting the health and safeguarding the human soul against the spread of the epidemics and diseases the world witnesses, and benefitting from the fast-pacing medical progress. This in turn calls us to account in terms of facing this challenge. Even more, this entails being partners in performing our duty towards the health which its maintaining stands as protection for us and for the next generation.  And as a matter of fact, this goal will only be achieved through partnership and integrity to which we all contribute.

  Dr. Abdullah bin Mufarreh Assiri,
The Assistant Deputy Minister for Preventive Health
