Ministries of Health and Education Sign a Scholarship Agreement to Send 20,000 Students to Study Medicine and Supportive Medical Sciences

Their Excellencies the Minister of Education Dr. Azzam Al-Dakhil and the Minister of Health Eng. Khalid Al-Falih have signed in Abha city a memorandum of understanding and cooperation, upon which the Ministry of Education will provide scholarships for 20,000 students to study medicine and supportive medical sciences. The scholarships come within the third phase of "Your Job and Your Scholarship" initiative, which is also part of the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques Foreign Scholarship Program. The students will be recruited after graduation in the health sector.
 
Meanwhile, Dr. Al-Dakhil expressed his happiness to have an agreement with the Ministry of Health (MOH), considering it one of the main partners in charge of a vital and essential sector. He added, "This deal provides many and various opportunities of scholarships and recruitment for our sons and daughters in all regions and provinces of the Kingdom."
 
He pointed out that the importance of this agreement can be reflected in the continuous need for national qualified cadres in the health specialties that touch the lives of all community members. In addition, Dr. Al-Dakhil hoped the agreement to meet qualitative needs of the health sector in our beloved country, adding that the agreement inked with His Excellency the Minister of Health embodies a model for integration of roles between the two ministries.
 
"This achievement represents one of the fruits of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs, which contributes effectively and strongly to unifying efforts towards achieving an effective national development in the light of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, and His Royal Highness the Deputy Crown Prince, May Allah protect them," he said.
 
He went on saying, "It’s a source of pride and honor -dear brothers- to sign this agreement with the MOH, in a manner which contributes to qualifying 20,000 physicians and specialists in the medical sciences to join –Allah willing and thanks to this fruitful cooperation- the health cadres in hospitals and clinics in all regions and provinces of our beloved country to provide valuable services for those who are living in this generous country."
 
On his part, Eng. Khalid Al-Falih said that this agreement comes to affirm the ministry's keenness and interest in qualifying national health cadres and to activate the concept of the community partnership among all community institutions, adding that the ministry welcomes any initiatives or programs aiming at developing the quality of health services.
 
He indicated that the ministry is adamant to upgrade its facilities and to provide them with necessary qualified manpower in a manner which contributes to improving health services and reaping the maximum benefit of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Foreign Scholarship Program.
 
In line with this agreement, the Ministry of Health will participate in the selection of candidates based on the professional regulations relevant to their specialties so as to prepare the final list of candidates and then to oversee their academic performance.
