In Collaboration with Uber, MOH to Launch Vaccination Service at Homes
18 August 2016
The Ministry of Health (MOH), in collaboration with Uber Company, will launch a five-day Vaccination Service, starting from next Sunday, August 21st, 2016 (corresponding to Dhul-Qi‘dah 18th, 1437H) in each of Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam. This service comes on the occasion of this year’s Hajj season, coinciding with the start of implementing the initiatives of the National Transformation Program (NTP) to achieve Saudi Arabia’s vision 2030.

This service, which is reckoned as one of the MOH’s Transformation Center Initiatives and characterized by an innovative aspect, is a free service targeting those citizens and residents intending to perform Hajj. This service is meant to reach these persons at their places of residences or work, or wherever they were; in an endeavor to facilitate vaccination for them. The applicant can obtain the service via Uber app on his/her smartphone and select Vaccination Service, and then a vehicle will reach him/her with nursing staff to offer him/her the vaccination free of any charge.

The MOH has pointed out that this vaccination is provided against seasonal flu and meningococcal meningitis. Hence, the MOH called upon those persons, who had already got vaccinated against meningococcal over the past three years and seasonal flu during the past year, not to ask for this service.
Furthermore, the MOH added that the working hours of the service health staff start from 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. over the five days.

For its part, Uber Company said: “We believe that we and the MOH have a similar vision over the long term to benefit from technology in providing services throughout the Kingdom. We also believe that the initiative of Vaccination service reflects an obvious example of what can be carried out when the government and private sectors work together; in an endeavor to achieve the best benefit for the community. We are so proud to work together in line with the kingdom's vision of creativity in various sectors. Hence, we laud the MOH’s initiative to proceed forward”.

It is worth mentioning that Uber app. is available via this website
