The Ministry of Health (MOH) has apologized to inpatients of the Maternity and Children Hospital in Madinah and their families; for the inconvenience they suffered the day before yesterday, due to a simulation conducted at the hospital to check on the readiness of all workers to deal with any emergency cases.
This was announced by the MOH spokesman, Faisal Al-Zahrani, who pointed out that such simulations are usually conducted as a measure of training at all sectors. “What happened during that simulation was an unintentional mistake that led to false fire alarm, which resulted in wrong notification by some of the hospital staff to the competent authorities, followed by an attempt to evacuate the hospital,” stated Al-Zahrani.
At the same time, he highlighted that the MOH has directed Madinah Health Affairs General Directorate to urgently submit a detailed report on the incident, to take all precautionary measures needed to avoid such mistakes in the future.
