Nutrition General Directorate of the Ministry of Health- AL Dhabab St, launches a five days course titled (Diabetics Nutrition) on Sat. 25th Sep. 2010, with the cooperation of Training and Scholarship General Directorate which targets Nutrition specialist in nutrition departments and diabetes centers in the Ministry's hospitals in the Kingdom.
Nutrition General Directorate General Supervision and the Head of the Scientific Committee, Mr. Meshari Bin Hamad Al Dekhil, clarified that this Course is presented for the first time for 30 trainees related to the Ministry's where many Nutrition Courses were and will be organized during the year 1430-1431 based on the Minister of Health directions in order to provide the needed training to the Ministry's staff in all fields and apply high quality standards to health services which is one of the Ministry's major plans.
Mr. AL Dekhil stated that the course aims to upgrade nutrition specialist competencies in Diabetics Nutrition which will reflect positively on patient's health. In addition of covering diabetes types, nutrition problems, diabetics suitable diets based on their health conditions, apply quality concept on diabetes diet and Nutrition specialist role.
He also added that the 20 hours course will host a number of doctors and nutrition specialized instructors from Nutrition General Directorate in the Ministry of Health, Non Contagious diseases General Directorate, King Saud University Medical College, Anti Diabetes Centre in King Abdul Aziz Hospital, Security Forces Hospital Program and Al Habib Medical Centre. The Course is approved by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialist.
Furthermore, the Course includes many scientific lectures such as: (Introduction in Diabetes and Required Tests- Diabetics Categories and Definition- Diabetes Chronic Complications- Diabetes cure and Artificial Sweeteners- Insulin Treatment- Nutritional Status and Intervention- Diabetics Meals Planning- Home Blood and Urine Sugar tests, Fat and Diabetes- Diabetes and Pregnancy- Food Groups and Components and Saudi Food Habits- Diabetes Epidemiology- Sports and Diabetes- Wounds and Feet Care- Diabetes Medical Herbs and Commercial Food- Planning Meals by Using Computer- Diabetics Awareness). In addition of "Planning Meals for Diabetics" Workshop.
